The Tsarevets Fortress is Veiko Tanovo’s main tourist attraction and for good reason.  The fortress dates back to the 12th century where it served as the royal houses of the patriarchs of what is now called Bulgaria.  The fortress has an amazing past and it is a must see if visiting Veliko Tarnovo. After an amazing six days in Sofia, Bulgaria I hopped on a train to a nearby city called Plovdiv.  Plovdiv is located in the south central part of Bulgaria and it’s about a three hour train ride from Sofia.  I wasn’t sure what to expect from my visit, but I was open minded and ready for a new adventure.  Just like Sofia, I was pleasantly surprised.
